SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER

January 28, 2011

 

 

On Thursday, January 27, 2011 Thomas Keith Coleman (35), of 13000 block Highway 613, Moss Point MS, was arrested and charged with Sex Offender- Failure to Register.  Coleman is a registered sex offender with the George County Sheriff’s Department. Coleman last verified his residence on January 5, 2011 as living on Gavin Churchwell Rd, Lucedale, MS according to Mississippi Department of Public Safety records.

 

During the investigation by the George County Sheriff’s Department it was determined that he was not living at his registered address and had been residing at a residence on Hillard Howell Rd, Lucedale MS since late November 2010.  Coleman had recently moved to a residence on Highway 613, Moss Point, MS.

 

On Friday, January 28, 2011, Coleman appeared before George County Justice Court Judge ML Goff and given a $10,000.00 bond and is currently in the George County Regional Correctional Facility.

 

Coleman was convicted of Sexual Battery, (2 counts), in Jackson County, MS on January 18, 2001.

 

George County Sheriff’s Department currently has 54 registered Sex Offenders who reside in George County which also includes those that are incarcerated in the George County Regional Correctional Facility.

 

According to Mississippi Code of 1972, the penalty for Sex Offender - Failure to register is a fine of not more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5000.00) or imprisonment in the State Penitentiary for not more than five (5) years, or both.
