MARIJUANA and METH LAB BUST

PRESS RELEASE

Marijuana & Meth Lab Bust

January 12, 2010

On Wednesday, January 12, 2010, the George County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics executed a search warrant at the 6100 block of Highway 57 South in the Benndale Community which led to the arrest of Ricky Earl Gibson (50) and Virginia Meador Gibson (47) both of George County. Agents discovered what appeared to be packaged marijuana at the residence. As a result of the investigation agents charged both Ricky Earl Gibson and Virginia Meador Gibson with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession a firearm. They were both transported to the George County Regional Jail where they are awaiting an appearance in George County Justice Court. These arrests were investigated by the George County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Division and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics

On Wednesday, January 12, 2010, the George County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics conducted a search at the 100 block of Rocky Creek Road after receiving an anonymous tip.  Agents found a small amount of methamphetamine, precursor chemicals used in manufacturing methamphetamine, and meth lab remnants. Agents arrested Bradford H. McLeod, (34) Brittany R. Johnson, (21) and Hazel R. Hilbun (58) all of George County. All three suspects were transported to the George County Regional Jail where they were charged with possession of precursor chemicals with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and felony child abuse. Agent also charged McLeod with additional charges possession of methamphetamine, generation of hazardous waste and Johnson with an additional charge of possession of methamphetamine. The child abuse charges were issued because agents found precursors in the refrigerator in the children’s reach and meth lab remnants near the children’s toys. The Mississippi Department of Human Services removed all children from the residence and turned them over to other relatives. This case was a joint investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, George County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Division, and the Greene County Narcotics Task Force.
