ARRESTS MADE IN BURGLARIES
AUGUST 7, 2018
The George County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has been investigating a string of burglaries that occurred on July 20, 2018. Four juveniles and one adult have been arrested in connection with this case. In the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the suspects drove to the Rocky Creek Community of George County, MS, during the night hours of July 20th, 2018, and broke into two different homes. They then drove to the Central Community, where they broke into another home. All of the residences sustained substantial damage during these burglaries. Two vehicles were also broken into in the same area during this timeframe. At approximately 4 a.m., the suspects were spotted by an alert homeowner when they attempted to break into the vehicles at the individual’s residence. Law enforcement was alerted as the suspects fled, and the homeowner was able to provide them with a detailed vehicle description for the suspects. Within minutes, Lucedale Police Department made contact with the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Several items were found in the vehicle that had been stolen throughout the night. The adult suspect has been identified as Colby Alexander Tolbert (20), of Jackson County. Tolbert was arrested and charged with four counts of Commercial Burglary, and bond was set at $30,000. The four juvenile suspects have also been charged with Commercial Burglary and were turned over to the George County Youth Court. Their names will not be released due to their ages.
