PURSUIT OF STOLEN VEHICLE ENDS IN CRASH,
SUSPECT FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES

On June 12, 2018, the George County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle being spotted in the Brushy Creek Community. Deputies responded, at which time the vehicle was observed exiting the Dollar General located on Hwy 98. The vehicle led Deputies on a high-speed pursuit through the Brushy Creek Community and into Wilmer, Alabama, where the vehicle exited the roadway and collided with multiple trees. The driver and passenger of the vehicle fled on foot but were identified shortly after.
Joseph “Joey” Lee Mills (26), of George County, has since been charged with Felony Fleeing and Receiving Stolen Property. Mills is currently being held in the Harrison County Detention Center facing other charges, including Motor Vehicle Theft, and is awaiting extradition to face charges in both Jackson and George Counties.
