IDENTITY THEFT AND CREDIT CARD FRAUD

On Thursday evening the George County Sheriff’s Office along with the Pascagoula Police Department executed a search warrant in the Barton Community of George County. The George County Sheriff’s Office arrested Amberly Lashae Miller 36, for Identity Theft and Credit Card Fraud in connection with the a recent scam alert, which the George County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page. Miller was calling individual people and representing herself as a Walmart employee and stating that Walmart had over charged the person and then asked for their credit card numbers to reimburse the person. Miller then used the credit card numbers to make telephone and online purchase.
The George County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public if they have received any kind of phone calls similar in nature to contact the George County Sheriff’s Office. Miller is currently in the George County Regional Corrections Facility awaiting initial appearance.
